Backup & Disaster Recovery

How We Build Backup and Recovery That Actually Restores

A backup you have never restored is a guess, not a safety net.

Immutable, offsite copies: We keep backup copies that cannot be changed or deleted, separated from your network so ransomware cannot reach them.

Tested restores on a schedule: We run real recovery tests of files, databases, and full systems, so you know recovery works before you need it.

A written recovery plan: We document the steps, owners, and time targets for getting your business back online, so recovery is not improvised under pressure.

Everything that matters, covered: We back up servers, endpoints, and cloud apps including Microsoft 365, not just the file server everyone remembers.

Failover for critical systems: We can bring key systems up elsewhere during an outage, so work continues while the primary environment is repaired.

Not sure your current backups would actually restore? CinchOps will test recovery and show you exactly where you stand.

Backups that restore, not just run.

Most businesses find out their backups don’t work at the worst possible moment, the day they need them. The job ran green every night, but nobody ever tried a full restore. Then ransomware hits, the backups turn out to be encrypted too, and recovery takes weeks instead of hours.

CinchOps builds backup and disaster recovery around the part that matters: getting your business running again. Immutable copies attackers can’t reach, restores tested on a schedule, and a written recovery plan with real time targets. A Katy-based engineer owns the runbook, so recovery isn’t improvised under pressure.

// What CinchOps does

CinchOps protects your data with immutable backups attackers can’t delete, tests real restores on a schedule, and keeps a written recovery plan with real time targets – so a bad day stays a bad day instead of a closed business.

Five layers, from the copy to the comeback.

L1Protected copies

  • Servers, endpoints, and cloud apps
  • Microsoft 365 and SaaS data included
  • Nothing assumed already covered

Everything important is copied

L2Immutable storage

  • Copies that can’t be changed or deleted
  • Held separate from your network
  • Out of ransomware’s reach

Attackers can’t touch them

L3Tested restores

  • Real recovery runs on a schedule
  • Files, databases, and full systems
  • Proof it works before you need it

Verified, not assumed

L4Recovery plan

  • Written runbook with steps and owners
  • Defined time and data-loss targets
  • Reviewed as the business changes

Recovery isn’t improvised

L5Failover and continuity

  • Spin up critical systems elsewhere

The business keeps running

// Why CinchOps for backup and DR

A green backup report isn’t recovery. The restore is.

Plenty of providers run nightly jobs, watch them succeed, and never test a restore. Then ransomware hits, the backups are encrypted too, and a one-day problem becomes a three-week shutdown. CinchOps tests recovery on a schedule and keeps copies attackers can’t reach, tuned to Houston law firms, CPA practices, construction GCs, and energy-services companies where downtime stops billable work.

01

Tested restores, not just green jobs

A backup job reporting success tells you the copy ran, not that it can be recovered. We test real restores on a schedule, files, databases, and full systems, so you know recovery works before the day you stake the business on it.

02

Backups attackers can’t reach

Ransomware crews now go after the backups first, and a copy on the same network gets encrypted with everything else. We keep immutable, offsite copies that can’t be altered or deleted, so you always have a clean version to restore from.

03

Recovery time and data loss you’ve agreed to

Most businesses have no idea how long recovery takes or how much data they would lose. We set real recovery-time and recovery-point targets, write them into a runbook, and build the backup design to actually hit them.

04

A named engineer who owns the runbook

When systems are down, you don’t want to be reading documentation for the first time. A Katy-based engineer maintains the recovery plan, runs the tests, and leads the restore, so for CPA firms, law firms, and GCs across the metro, recovery is led by someone who already knows your environment.

Contact CinchOps for a backup and recovery review that shows whether your current backups would actually restore, before you have to find out the hard way.

  2. Quarterly restore tests with documented results
  3. Written recovery objectives reviewed annually
  4. Offsite copy stored outside the customer network
FAQs

Have Questions?

How often should we test our backups?
CinchOps tests restores quarterly for every managed client. The quarterly cadence is enough to catch credential changes, software updates, and storage capacity issues before they cause a real recovery to fail. Major systems get a partial restore tested every quarter, and a full system recovery exercise gets scheduled annually. The test results are documented so the business owner can see them.
What is the difference between backup and disaster recovery?
Backup is the copy of the data. Disaster recovery is the plan and the systems that get the business operating again after a major outage. A business can have backups and still have no disaster recovery plan. CinchOps treats them as one service because the backup is the foundation of the recovery, but the recovery also needs the documented procedures, the trained team, and the tested timeline.
How do you protect backups from ransomware?
Ransomware now actively looks for backup repositories and tries to encrypt or delete them. CinchOps stores backup copies as immutable, meaning the copy cannot be modified or deleted for a defined retention period regardless of who has the credentials. Backup credentials are separated from production admin user credentials. An offsite copy lives outside the customer network entirely so a full network compromise still leaves a clean copy to restore from.
What recovery time and recovery point can we expect?
It depends on the system. CinchOps writes a recovery time objective and a recovery point objective for each system as part of the plan, then designs the backup approach to meet those objectives. A typical small business gets file server recovery within four hours, business application recovery within eight hours, and full network restoration within one to two business days for a worst-case scenario.
What happens during the first 30 days of engagement?
First week: inventory the current backup approach and identify the gaps. Week two: deploy or configure the immutable backup copies and offsite replication. Week three: write the recovery runbook with the business owner and document the recovery objectives per system. Week four: run the first restore test and review the results. After that, the quarterly cadence takes over.
