What is patch management?
Patch management is the work of keeping operating systems, applications, and firmware up to date with vendor-released security fixes and feature updates. The discipline includes finding patches when they release, testing them, scheduling deployment, applying them across the business, and documenting what was patched when. It is one of the most effective security controls available.
How often should patches be applied?
Routine patches usually deploy on a monthly cadence aligned with vendor release schedules. Critical patches for high-severity issues go out faster, often within a few days of testing. CinchOps publishes the patch cadence we work to as part of the service agreement, so expectations are clear.
Will patches break our business applications?
