What is DRaaS?
DRaaS is Disaster Recovery as a Service. It is a cloud-based recovery model where copies of your servers and data are continuously replicated to a cloud provider. When your primary site fails for any reason, you fail over to the cloud replicas and keep operating. Once the primary site is restored, you fail back to it.
How is DRaaS different from cloud backup?
Cloud backup stores copies of your data that can be restored to hardware you provide. DRaaS keeps running replicas of your servers themselves, ready to take over when the primary fails. Recovery from backup can take days while you procure hardware. Recovery from DRaaS takes hours because the replicas are already running.
How much does DRaaS cost a Houston small business?
DRaaS cost depends on the number of servers protected, the recovery time objective, and the replication frequency. How often is DRaaS tested?
At minimum quarterly for managed clients. CinchOps schedules failover tests on a rotating basis: file recovery, single-server failover, and full site failover scenarios. Testing exposes any gaps while you still have working production, rather than discovering them during a real outage. The tests get documented for audits and cyber insurance applications.
Does DRaaS protect against ransomware?
Yes, when configured correctly. CinchOps deploys DRaaS with immutable cloud replicas that cannot be encrypted or deleted by ransomware attackers who reach the production environment. The replica becomes a safe recovery point. Backup-based protection without this immutability is increasingly vulnerable as ransomware groups target backups first.
