What does a network assessment cover?
A thorough network assessment covers physical cabling, switch and router configurations, wireless coverage and security, firewall rules, internet circuits, IP addressing, name services, segmentation, and a security posture review of devices on the network. The deliverable is a written report with diagrams, photos, and a prioritized remediation list, not a raw tool dump.
How long does a network audit take?
For a Houston small or mid-sized business with one to three locations, a full network assessment usually runs two to four weeks from kickoff to written report. The variation depends on environment complexity, how much documentation already exists, and how accessible the network closets and equipment racks are during the walkthrough phase.
Will the assessment disrupt our business?
A well-run assessment is mostly invisible to users. Configuration extraction and scanning happen during business hours with minimal load, and on-site closet visits are scheduled around the workday. The only time business impact is possible is if remediation work begins, and that is scheduled with the customer separately.
Do you provide the report only or also fix what you find?
CinchOps can do either. Some Houston customers want the assessment as a third-party check on their internal team or current provider. Others want CinchOps to execute the prioritized fix list as part of a managed services engagement. The report stands on its own, and the remediation work is optional.
How often should networks be reassessed?
Once is a useful starting point, but most Houston businesses benefit from a lighter quarterly review of configurations and a fuller annual reassessment. Networks drift, vendors change, and rules accumulate. Building a cadence into managed services means the documentation stays accurate rather than going stale between major assessments.
