What is a SOC and what does managed SOC mean?
A security operations center (SOC) is a team that monitors an organization's systems continuously, investigates suspicious activity and responds to incidents. A managed SOC delivers that as a service from a provider, so your business gets 24/7 monitoring and response without hiring its own analysts.
What is the difference between a managed SOC and SIEM services?
SIEM is the tooling that collects and correlates security logs from your systems. The SOC is the team that watches what the SIEM surfaces and acts on it. CinchOps offers both; the SIEM service is the data layer and the managed SOC is the monitoring and response layer on top.
What happens when the SOC finds something at night?
The analyst investigates the alert first. If it is a real threat, containment starts under rules we agreed with you in advance, such as revoking a session or isolating a device. Then a Katy-based engineer calls your on-call contact with what happened and what comes next.
Do we need a managed SOC if we already have EDR and a firewall?
EDR and a firewall generate the alerts. A managed SOC is who reads them at 2 a.m. and responds. Without that, an alert from a tool is only useful if someone happens to see it in time.
Does a managed SOC help with compliance or cyber insurance?
