Cloud Migration

How We Move You to the Cloud

The cloud saves money only when the move is planned.

We inventory before we move: Every server, app, and dependency is mapped first, so nothing gets left behind or broken in transit.

Each workload gets the right home: We decide what belongs in Azure, what fits Microsoft 365, and what should stay on-prem, instead of lifting everything blindly.

Moves happen in phases: Systems migrate in controlled stages with a rollback at every step, so one problem never takes the whole business down.

Most work is after hours: We schedule the heavy lifting for nights and weekends, so your team logs in to a working setup, not a construction zone.

Data is verified, not assumed: After each move we confirm the data is intact and the apps actually work before anyone relies on them.

Cost is controlled from day one: We right-size instances and clear out idle resources during the move, so the first invoice is not a shock.

A Katy-based engineer owns it: One named engineer plans the sequence, runs the moves, and answers your questions, start to finish.

Cloud migration  //  Houston SMBs

Moving to the cloud is not a button. It is a project with a right way and a wrong way.

Most cloud migrations that go badly were never really planned. Someone lifts a server into Azure, the bill triples, an app breaks, and six months later the business is paying more for something slower than what it replaced. The cloud did not fail. The plan did.

CinchOps treats a migration the way a Houston general contractor treats a build: assess what you have, plan the sequence, move in controlled phases, and validate before cutover. No surprise outages, no runaway bill.

// What CinchOps does

CinchOps assesses, sequences, and moves your systems to the cloud in controlled phases, then right-sizes the result so you are not overpaying for a slower setup.

// why CinchOps runs your migration

The cloud only saves money if someone plans it that way.

A migration that ignores dependencies, security, or cost is how businesses end up paying more for less. CinchOps plans and runs the move for Houston construction firms, CPA practices, law firms, and energy-services companies, so the cloud actually delivers what it promised.

01

We move what should move

Not everything belongs in the cloud. We assess each workload and pick the right home for it, on-prem, Azure, or Microsoft 365, instead of lifting everything and hoping the bill works out.

02

Phased, not all at once

We migrate in controlled stages with a rollback plan at every step, so a problem in one workload never takes the whole business offline. Most moves happen after hours, so your team logs in to a working system.

03

Cost controlled from day one

Right-sizing, reserved capacity, and cleanup of idle resources happen during the migration, not as a painful project after the first eye-watering invoice arrives.

04

A named Houston engineer

A Katy-based engineer owns your migration end to end, plans the sequence, runs the moves, and is reachable when you have a question. Not a ticket queue in another time zone.

FAQs

Have Questions?

What are the 6 Rs of cloud migration?
The 6 Rs are a planning framework: rehost (lift and shift), replatform (lift, tinker, shift), repurchase (move to SaaS), refactor (re-architect), retire (decommission), and retain (keep on-premises). Each workload in the portfolio is assigned an R based on cost, complexity, and value. Most migrations use a mix of strategies because workloads have different fit characteristics.
How long does cloud migration take?
Timelines vary with portfolio size and complexity. A small business with a dozen servers and Microsoft 365 already in place might migrate the rest in three to six months. A mid-sized business with custom applications, regulated data, and integration dependencies often runs migrations across nine to eighteen months with multiple waves. The phased approach keeps risk manageable and lets early wins fund later phases.
Should we use Azure, AWS, or both?
The choice depends on existing investments, workload type, and operational fit. Microsoft-heavy environments often land on Azure because of identity integration and licensing alignment. AWS tends to win for breadth of services and certain analytics workloads. Some companies run multi-cloud intentionally to avoid lock-in, but multi-cloud doubles the operational complexity, which is fine if you have the team for it.
What is the cost surprise we should plan for?
The most common cost surprises are egress charges (data leaving the cloud), under-rightsized resources running 24/7 when they could be scaled down, and licensing models that work differently in the cloud than they did on-premises. Strong cost projections account for these explicitly. The FinOps practice that emerged in the last several years exists specifically because of these patterns.
What happens after migration?
After migration the optimization phase begins. Right-sizing resources to actual demand, scheduling non-production workloads to run only during business hours, applying reserved instance discounts, and identifying workloads that should be re-architected for cloud-native services typically produces significant year-two savings. Skipping the optimization phase is the second most common reason migrations disappoint on cost.
